Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple Tadipatri located within the town. Temple was built with Vijayanagara architecture on the banks of Penna river.

Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple Tadipatri Legends

Legend says that Sri Rama installed Lord Siva, to get rid of the sin of killing a demon Tataki, who is a woman.

Inscriptions on the walls of the temple say that Lord Siva appeared in the dreams of the King of this region and instructed him to build the temple for this Idol. This region was ruled by Pemmasani Ramalinga Naidu, Son of Thimmanaidu who was a chief commander at Sri Krishna Devarayulu court.

While the construction is in progress, Pandits calculated the risks in completing the temple. As this temple might dominate Sacred Kasi Temple in the North. As there are similarities with Kasi temple, burial ground behind the temple as the one in Kasi and temple is located on the banks of Penna river similar to Ganga river for Kasi Temple. Pandits advised the king to stop the construction as it may cause unexpected death to the King and drought in this region. Also advised king that, even if the construction was stopped, it will not have any negative impact as As this Siva Linga is Swayambhu (self-manifested),

On seeking advice from Pandits, Ramalinga Naidu stopped the construction of Mahadwaram Gopuram.

It is said that the temple was constructed in the same place where Parasurama did penance for a very long time.

An interesting fact associated with this deity is, irrespective of the seasons, water keeps coming from the edges of Siva Linga at a constant pace.

The musical columns at this temple is another interesting thing at the main corridor. There are sub-temples for Veerabhadra Swamy, Chandi, Sri Rama, Parvathi Devi.
