<p>The horseshoe-shaped rock is of height 76.20 mt. Ajanta Caves is a combination of 30 caves. Best work is to be found in Caves 1, 2, 16, 17 and 19. Best Sculptures are in Caves 1, 4, 7, 19, 24 and 26. Caves 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are Chaitya-halls. The remainings caves are Viharas. Chaityas Caves 9 and 10 and Viharas 8, 12, 13 and 30  are the oldest (2nd Century BC to 2nd Century AD) which are the creation of the Hinayana system. The other caves belong to the 15th and 16th Centuries and make the Mahayana series.</p>
