Ramakrishna Theertham

RamaKrishna Theertham Tirumala

Ramakrishna Theertham is situated approximately 6 miles to the north of the main Sri Venkateswara Temple. Local inhabitants believe that a person named Krishna dug a pool, where a sage came for meditating. While this sage was meditating, an anthill was formed around him. For testing his concentration, Lord Indra sent down thunderstorm and lightening, but he failed to dislodge the sage sitting in this pool. The anthill was broken and Lord Srinivasa appeared at this site, who blessed the sage saying that a holy bath in this theertham on full moon day will cleanse all the sins. It is believed that once upon a time there was a man called Krishna who dug up a pool at this spot and a sage sat there for meditation. For testing the sage’s concentration, Lord Indra struck with thunder and lightning, but the sage continued with his meditation at the pool. It was then that Lord Srinivasa appeared at this site and blessed the sage. He proclaimed that if anyone took a holy bath in this theertham on full moon day he would be cleansed of all sins.

Bathing in this water is really refreshing and is said to wash away the evils and confer good fortune. Pilgrim can plan to this Holy site if there is enough time to explore after visiting other Theerthams.

The best time for visiting this place is during the rainy season, this place looks even more beautiful with greenery around and with white water gushing out of the rocks.

  3. Dear,
Yesterday(09-02-2017 6.00Am) I visited this Holy theertham with the guidelines of this site.
Last year TTD permitted only on the day of pournami.
This year one day prior that is 08th afternoon they permitted the yaatrikas.
Very wide safety arrangements made by TTD. In the hard trekking areas TTD made temporary wooden ladders to help aged yaatrikas.
Since crowd was less in the 9th morning we (6persons) had nice bath in the theertham.
The distance is around three kms.
Om namo narayana Govindha Govindha Govindha
