About 15000 Kg gold has been used in the construction of this Maha Lakshmi Mandir and more than 300 crores have been spent in building this temple. It took nearly 7 years to construct the Golden Temple Vellore. Estimated that 400 goldsmiths and copper-smiths participated in building this temple. About twelve layers of gold foils have been pasted on copper sheets embossed with the designs of Gods and fixed on the walls. The whole interior of the temple has been constructed with pure gold. The Temple is located in the centre of a star-shaped compartment.

Only people who believe in more than one god are allowed to enter the temple. All devotees have to go through the star-shaped pathway to reach the sanctum. Sri Mahalakshmi idol inside the sanctum is made of 70 kg pure gold.

Golden Temple Vellore Darshan

There is 2 types of Darshan, one is free and other type is paid. Paid ticket cost Rs.250/ devotee and will have immediate access to darshan. Free darshan will take 2 -3 hours, depends on the crowd.

How to reach Golden Temple Vellore?

1. Temple is located at a distance of 8 km from Vellore  Old Bus station
2. 120 Km away from Tirupati. Direct buses to Vellore is available from Tirupati Bus station. Bus Route : Tirupati -> Chittoor -> Vellore. It takes 2 hours 38 mins by Road.
3. 44 km away from Chittoor, whoever plans for Kanipakam can also plan for Golden temple. It takes 1 hour by Road.
4. The nearest Railway junction is Katpadi. Temple is  15 km from Katpadi junction. Passenger trains are running from Tirupati to Katpadi at regular intervals.
