Sri Medha Dakshinamurthy Homam in Srikalahasti is performed outside the main temple. The puja duration is 3 hours. Typically, two to three pandits will be performing this puja. Sri Medha Dakshinamurthy will bless the couple with a successful marriage, a fulfilling career, and a fully pleasant lifestyle. Thursday is the day dedicated to this deity, and yellow is his most preferred color. He can fulfill the desires of honest individuals. Additionally, it is thought that His appearance can undo the negative consequences of other planets and karma. On Thursdays, reciting His slokam will bring good fortune, favorable proposals for unmarried people, etc.

Guru Bhagavan slokam:

Devananja Rishinanja
Gurum Kanchana Sannibam
Bakthibootham Thrilokesam
Tham Namami Brahaspathim

The most common way to see Sri Dakshinamurthy is in the sitting posture under a banyan tree. In this posture, he is stamping down on the dwarf (signifying ignorance and delusion) with his right leg extended downward. Additionally, his right knee or thigh is supported by his left foot, which is bent. He has a relaxed sitting position. There are no bends in his body or posture. He has a serene, contemplative expression overall. Sri Medha Dakshinamurthy is considered another form of Lord Shiva.

Ashlesha Bali Pooja in Srikalahasti

Some people always have problems, even though many are born with that trait. People born under the Ashlesha nakshatra have the most trouble with these issues. Many shastras say that people with these horoscopes will feel better in many ways if they always do the Ashlesha Bali Puja. The Sarpa doshas are found in most people. It is beneficial to do the Ashlesha Bali worship for people who are sick, have lung problems, or are dealing with colon cancer. It is also good for people who are sad about not having children, having colon cancer, or not having the peace of the father’s gods. The Ashlesha Bali ceremony is held on the day of Ashlesha Nakshatra. It is done by Brahmins who fully devote themselves to the Vedas and chant Vedic mantras. If you are born under the Ashlesha Nakshatra and do the Ashlesha Bali Puja, you will get all the good things in life.

Srikalahasti Temple Timings, Darshan and Puja details

This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and is one of the Panchabhootha Sthalam. This temple was built in the 5th Century during the reign of Chola Kings. Vijayanagar Kings built the outer structures in the 12th Century.

This temple is known for Rahu Ketu Pooja which is performed even on Grahanam Days.

Srikalahasti Temple History

As per the Legend, Sri (Spider), Kala (Serpent), Hasthi (Elephant) offered prayers to Srikalahastheeswara Swamy and attained salvation. Hence the temple named after them.

Another interesting story attached with this temple, Bhakta Kanappa, an ardent devotee of Lord Siva replaced deities eyes with his eyes when blood was oozing out of Linga. Impressed Lord Siva retained his eyesight and blessed Kanappa
