Mopidevi Temple Pooja Timings, Online Booking, and Ticket Cost

The holy writings state that Vindhya Mountain once grew upwards due to an overconfidence in its strength. Up to the sun, it went. This caused complete darkness to descend upon the world, engulfing all living things—including plants and animals—mortal and immortal. The gods appealed to Sage Agasthya to subdue the Vindhya Mountain in some way. It is well known that Sage Agasthya obtained celestial powers through intense penance. At that point, he was residing in Varanasi. After agreeing to the Devas’ request, Sage Agasthya left Northern India and headed towards the Vindhya mountain. The border separating North and South India is Vidhya Mountain. The Vindhya Mountain descended to the lowest position to make room for Sage Agasthya, whom he knew was coming. Sage Agasthya has promised Vindhyaa that he will remain low till he returns from his tour of southern India, having taken this vow when crossing the Vindhya Mountain. Still, the sage did not come back. He made his home in southern India. Vidhya Mountain waited for ages in unison and was humbled to this day.
Sage Agasthya once had the opportunity to visit the location where Lord Subrahmanyeswara performed intense penance with his entourage. He pointed to the location and added that there were tigers there, and if we continued eastward from here, we would reach the hallowed Subrahmanyeswara temple of Lord Kumaraswamy. One can achieve redemption and gain wealth throughout their life by paying a sincere visit to this shrine. It is important to remember that Vijayawada’s ruling goddess, Kanaka Durga, rides a tiger.
The son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi is Lord Subrahmanyeswara. Goddess Parvathi transferred the fetus’s power to Ganga Devi, who was unable to resist it while Lord Subrahmanyeswara was still inside her womb. The fetus sank into the reed grass because Ganga was unable to withstand its strength either. Krittika, six female minor goddesses, looked after the embryo. With six heads, twelve hands, and a lot of brilliance, luster, and sun radiance, Lord Subrahmanyeswara was born in the month of Margasiramasam on the day of the waxing moon, imbibing the strengths of both Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. On the occasions of Ashada Sukla Panchami, Naga Panchami, Nagaula Chaviti, and Shashti, devotees especially adore Lord Subrahmanyeswara.

The holy scriptures state that Vindhya Mountain once grew upwards due to an overconfidence in its strength. Up to the sun, it went. This caused complete darkness to descend upon the world, covering all living things—including plants and animals—mortal and immortal. The gods requested Sage Agasthya to bring down the Vindhya Mountain in some way. It is well known that Sage Agasthya obtained celestial powers through intense penance. At that point, he was residing in Varanasi. The Vindhya Mountain descended to the lowest position to make room for Sage Agasthya, whom he knew was coming. Sage Agasthya has promised Vindhyaa that he will remain small till he returns from his tour of southern India, having taken this vow when crossing the Vindhya Mountain. Still, the sage did not come back. He made his home in southern India. Vidhya Mountain waited for ages in harmony and was humbled to this day.

Sage Agasthya once had the opportunity to visit the location where Lord Subrahmanyeswara performed intense penance with his attendants. He pointed to the location and added that there were tigers there, and if we continued eastward from here, we would reach the sacred Subrahmanyeswara temple of Lord Kumaraswamy.
Hamsaladeevi Venugopala Swamy Temple is located on the banks of River Krishna. It is said that this temple is of 1000 years old. This temple was built during the reign of Eastern Chalukyas. Temple walls were richly carved with the sequences of Ramayana. The Main deity Venugopala resides here with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama.

River Krishna splits into two at Puligadda near Avanigadda. Easter stream merges with the Bay of Bengal at Palakayi Tippa, which is 5 km from Hamasaladeevi. Magha Pournami has been considered auspicious during this time lakhs of devotees take the bath at the merging points of river Krishna and the Bay of Bengal.

Hamsaladeevi Venugopala Swamy Temple History

As per the folklore, Two Gandharvas while flying over the Krishna delta, they came across a sage who was black in colour. Gandharvas made fun of him. The angered sage cursed Gandharvas to become crows. Gandharvas regretted their mistake and pleaded Sage for the solution. Sage asked them to take a bath in the river Krishna near Hamsaladeevi. As advised they took bath here and got their actual form as Swan (Hamsa). Hence, the place popular by Hamsaladeevi.

Another interesting story attached to this place, Sages in the form of Swans used to worship the Lord in the night after taking a bath in the river Krishna. Therefore, this place got the name Hamsaladeevi.

Mopidevi Temple Naga Dosha Nivarana Pooja Details and Procedure

Mopidevi Temple is known for the Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Pooja, Anapathya Dosha Pooja, and Naga Pratishta Poojas.

Legends associated with Mopidevi Temple

Rishis Sankara, Sanakasa, Sanatkumara, and Sanatsujata, who are ardent devotees of Lord Siva, disengaged themselves from this materialistic world and remained naked. Once, they visited Mount Kailash (the Abode of Lord Siva) to offer prayers to Lord Siva. During this time, Sachi Devi (wife of Indra Dev), Swaha Devi (wife of Agni Dev), Goddess Saraswati, and Goddess Lakshmi also arrived in Kailash. Lord Subramanya, who was sitting in his mother’s lap, snickered innocently at seeing fully dressed goddesses on one side and nude Rishis on the other. Goddess Parvati reprimanded Subramanya for his childish act. Realizing the mistake, Lord Subramanya took permission from his mother and reached the earth to perform penance. Lord Subramanya did penance in the guise of a serpent and got relieved of the sin. And the place where the Lord did penance later came to be known as ‘Mopidevi’. Rishi Veda Vyasa mentioned the sacredness of Mopidevi in the Skanda Purana.

Mopidevi Temple History

It is believed that Lord Subramanya appeared in the dreams of an ardent devotee Veeravarapu Parvathalu and revealed his whereabouts. Parvathalu with the help of other villagers unearthed the self-manifested Idol from the anthill.
