Darshan Duration: 15 to 20 mins during weekdays. 30 to 45 mins during weekends. 1 to 2 hours on Festival days.

Suryanamaskaram Timings: 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. Daily. Ticket cost: Rs.50 per person.

The crowd will be high on Rathasapthami ( Surya Jayanthi), Sat, Sun, Holidays, Nov, Dec and Festival days.

Sun Rays Touch Arasavalli Surya Narayana Swamy

It happens twice in a year ie. Uttarayanam and Dakshinayam.

Uttarayanam: In the month of Mar, Sun Rays touch Lord Surya Narayana ie between 6:00 am and 6:20 am.

Dakshinayam: The second event happens on 1Oct, 2Oct and 3Oct ie. between 6:00 am and 6:20 am.

Arasavalli History

From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built during the reign of Ganga Kings in 7th Century AD. It was mentioned in the Skanda Purana, that Indra (God of Heaven) created the temple tank with his weapon Vajra Yudha. It is believed that Indra Installed Surya Bhagawan Idol which was recovered from this holy tank. It is said that taking a holy dip in the Pushkarini will relieve the devotee from sins. The water in this holy tank possesses medicinal properties which will cure the diseases.

Temple will be heavy crowded on Rathasapthami day. Lakhs of devotees throng the temple on special days.

The uniqueness of this temple is that Sun rays passes through the five doors and touches Sun god. This astrological miracle occurs twice in a year (Uttarayanam and Dakshinayaam) for three continuous days in the early hours ie in the months of Mar and Oct. This architecture of the temple resembles Kalinga dynasty construction style.

The main deity is of 5.5 ft height and 2.5 ft width. Soura Yanta, Aruna Yantra and Tricha Yantra were installed at the deity.

It is stated in Surya Mandalastakam that performing 108 Pradakshinam and sprinkling Soma Sutra Abhisheka Jalam (holy water) on the head will relieve us from all diseases.
